Administrator
Section titled “Administrator”Authenticated role that creates and deletes Events and Rooms and manages Event Producer assignments.
Assistive listening
Section titled “Assistive listening”Original program audio or translated text-to-speech delivered to an attendee’s device.
Attendee
Section titled “Attendee”Person who joins a Room through a tokenized QR code or link without a Volo account.
Audience language
Section titled “Audience language”A translated output language configured for a Room. The primary input language is also offered for original-language content.
Browser ingest
Section titled “Browser ingest”Audio and optional video captured from media devices connected to the Producer computer and sent through the Volo web application.
Dictionary
Section titled “Dictionary”Event-level or Room-level list of names, phrases, and pronunciation variants used to improve handling of specialized terminology.
Top-level Volo production containing branding, assigned Producers, Rooms, a dictionary, and transcripts.
Event Producer
Section titled “Event Producer”Authenticated role that configures and operates assigned Events and Rooms.
Input language
Section titled “Input language”Language expected from a presenter or program audio feed. A Room supports up to two input languages.
Large-screen link
Section titled “Large-screen link”Tokenized Room link that opens a full-screen layout for overflow displays or other managed screens.
Multi-speaker mode
Section titled “Multi-speaker mode”Room option that adds speaker labels to transcription when the selected language/provider combination supports it.
One-time password (OTP)
Section titled “One-time password (OTP)”Short-lived code sent by email during Administrator or Event Producer login.
Overlay link
Section titled “Overlay link”Tokenized, language-specific caption surface with configurable font, size, line count, and background opacity.
Packet loss
Section titled “Packet loss”Percentage of real-time media packets that do not reach their destination. Persistent loss can indicate an unstable network path.
Live session destination within an Event. A Room holds languages, sponsor branding, links, ingest controls, defaults, a dictionary, and transcripts.
Room GUID
Section titled “Room GUID”Identifier displayed on the Room card and useful when reporting operational issues.
reCap by Volo
Section titled “reCap by Volo”Companion service that receives a completed Volo transcript, creates a session summary, and hosts it for viewing. Summary processing and hosting currently occur outside the Volo application.
Session summary
Section titled “Session summary”Post-event summary created by reCap from a completed Volo transcript and delivered through a hosted summary page.
Stream
Section titled “Stream”One live run within a Room, from start through stop. Completed streams produce downloadable transcript records.
Text-to-speech (TTS)
Section titled “Text-to-speech (TTS)”Synthetic audio generated from translated text for an attendee’s selected language.
Tokenized link
Section titled “Tokenized link”Room URL containing an access token. Mobile, large-screen, and overlay links are tokenized and should be shared only with their intended audience or destination.
Transcript
Section titled “Transcript”Downloadable caption output associated with a completed Stream, available at Room and Event level.
