Common terms used throughout the Volo platform and supporting documentation.

- Admin Console: Web interface where Event Producers create events, configure rooms, and manage live streams.
- Attendee Session: Browser session initiated by scanning a room QR code or opening the room URL.

- Caption Stream: Real-time transcription feed delivered to End Users as text.
- Cookie Consent Banner: Material theme component that captures user consent for analytics and GitHub integration.

- End User App: Mobile-friendly interface where attendees select languages and consume captions or translated audio.
- Event Producer: Authenticated role responsible for managing events and audio ingest.
L
- Language Pack: Combination of translation model and voice used to generate multilingual captions and audio.
- Latency: Time between captured speech and delivery of captions/audio to End Users.
O
- OTP (One-Time Password): Single-use code emailed to Event Producers during login for additional security.
Q
- QR Code: Scannable code that links attendees directly to a room’s landing page.
R
- Room: Logical container inside an event that groups attendees, language selections, and media streams for a session.
- Room URL: Unique, session-scoped link generated for each room to control attendee access.
S
- Signal Flow: Path the audio signal takes from the venue mixing board through the USB interface and into Volo’s ingest pipeline.
- Site Build: Static HTML output produced by
mkdocs buildand published to https://docs.volo.live.
T
- Text-to-Speech (TTS): Feature that converts translated text into synthetic speech for end users who prefer audio.
- Tutorial Library: Curated links and videos that demonstrate setup and live operations workflows.
